Preventative Measures

It is often said that 3 of 4 women will have a yeast infection during their lifetime, and often they will have recurrent infections. Here are a few tips to help you prevent them, although none of these measures can cure and infection, they might end up saving you from having another one.

A. Use water based lubricants if vaginal dryness is a problem.
B. Always wear cotton panties, as other materials serve as a breeding ground for yeast.
C. Eat yogurt, everyday! The cultures found in yogurt help to keep yeast in check.
D. Never use a douche. It strips your body of natural balances and makes you more susceptible to infections.
E. Never wipe from back to front following a bowel movement. Yeast found in the intestinal tract can be transferred into the vaginal area causing an infection.
